HISTORY
Literature Alive! began in 1994 by inviting local writers to read from their work in a bookstore.
In 1995, a Board of Directors was formed and Literature Alive! became a nonprofit corporation to serve the Nevada County community. Since then, Literature Alive! has presented readings of fiction, essays, and poetry by more than 100 local and visiting writers as well as its two annual signature events, Wordslingers and Listening to the Wild.
As it expanded to bring well-recognized writers to Nevada County, Literature Alive! continues to give a platform to the diverse and talented writers who live in the community.
In January 2007, in order to enhance and further it's
mission and programs, Literature Alive! became part of the Center for the Arts. |
