Improvers’ Nation is a local group of improvisational comedians committed to hilarity, spontaneity and good healthy shenanigans. Using satire in their improvisation, and friendly competitive theatre games, Improvers’ Nation pokes fun at the world of WAR! In today’s world of WMD’s, terrorism and dirty bombs, Improvers’ Nation is a breath of fresh air that we can all laugh at. The Officers Danny McCammon (Dir.), co-founder and director of Improvers' Nation, has decided to go completely mad this season. He would have check into a loony bin if it weren't for the fact that "The Nation" (as he calls it) was already a mad house. Being a man of power it seems perfectly reasonable that he would make this choice, however. There is an unwritten law of sorts that makes insanity a requirement for this position. So, you may be wondering, why am I so sure that he is completely nuts? Well, it's quite simple really... I refer to myself in the third person! Tyler “Matt Damon” Friesen (Prod.), was borne on the most unlucky day of the year and immediately dropped on his head sparking an addiction to everything funny. This mix of insanity and humor lead him to the theatre. He has been involved with theatre and improv locally for the past six years, and in 2006 he teamed up with Danny to create Imprvers’ Nation. The rest they say is history. Josh Triplett (Ass. Dir.), has been involved in theatre and improv for 147 years. He has improvised with Martians and marsupials and will never stop doing what he loves. Christine Rice (Ass. Prod.), likes to stick herself behind the action of Improver’s Nation, holding true to her title as Assistant Producer. As the Ass. Prod. she manages the myspace, facebook, and email accounts of Improvers’ Nation, informing the public of upcoming shows and events. She is currently a full time student at Sierra College, but investigative studies suggest she has no academic ambition. Accounts of subliminal messages in homework may be the cause of professors and classmates attending shows. She has been caught exchanging tutoring flyers at the school with tampered replicas, which direct students to the Off Center Stage on Saturday nights. Christine confesses “I confess!” but claims that Improv is a better form of education because it prepares students for the unpredictability of life and helps them to be overwhelming happy about it. The Troupes Allison Bronson’s love for Improv started when she joined the Nevada Union Drama department her freshman year. She also loves Comedy Sportz, scuba diving, her extraordinary friends, slacking, and having adventures! Now 17 she wants to keep on doing Improv until the ocean dries up, and maybe be a marine biologist too. My name is Ryan Duarte, and no, it’s not short for anything. But enough about my name, I don’t think names define people. A personality is a step closer to who people are. A few of my personality traits are I am not modest and I am very sarcastic. I enjoy acting but a script will not always let my strange self come out, that’s why I love Improv. Eric “Fetske” Fetske is very excited about being in Improvers’ Nation for the second season in a row. He is a former founding member of the Pleasant Valley Pheasant Pluckers. He has also been in numerous plays at WinterSatge and the Center for the Arts. His best work comes unconsciously. Patrick “Eyebrows” Higgins was born and raised in hilarious Grass Valley, California. In middle school he was introduced to drama. This brought about periods of happiness. In high school, he was introduced to Improv. This sparked periods of intense euphoria. In 2008 he begins his first year with the Improvers’ Nation. Keep your eyes peeled for this up-and-coming 16 year old. He may be right under your nose. Actually he is right above your nose, just past your eyes. Michael Alexander Hoff: If you are reading this, then the real Michael Alexander Hoff is dead. Don't act surprised, don't look around, eyes down, stay with me here, and keep quiet about it. Michael is number 18 out of 27 test subjects of a mad scientist who holds residence off the coast of Alaska. The so called "Bridge to Nowhere" was his brain child, he wanted it so he could easily transport his "goods" from point A to point B. His name, is Dr. Hymenglucien, a despicable man who does despicable things, a man that knows neither morals or restraint. As an example, he is in fact the man responsible for the first of the Michaels, or Death MAHs as the ones who fight these repulsive creatures call them. The Death MAHs are grotesque creatures of nightmares that laugh and perform Comedy Improv most of the time, yet in the time it takes to snap your fingers a Death MAH can turn into a frenzied beast, known to the ones who see it only as "Mobiglio: Lord of the Flesh" Mobiglio and the MAH have a symbiotic relationship that keeps both the powers of comedy, and the powers of flesh eating in check. I'm not saying this to scare you, I'm saying this to inform you that the man in purple camo, "Michael Alexander Hoff" is a horror story waiting to happen. You have been warned. Heed my words. Chris LeGate was hired as cook and driver by Improvers’ Nation. A kitchen explosion left him out of job and somewhat mentally disabled (a perfect qualification for our troupe). Chris has been performing locally for 18 years and is best known for his portrayal of Mark Twain. He is also cofounder of LeGacy Presents – a family owned production company. Justin "Yo!" Llach has been involved with theatre for over 6 years, this is his second season with Improvers' Nation and is also apart of Comedy Sportz Sacramento. Some of Justin's most recent productions here at the Center include "Grapes of Wrath", "Bury the Dead" in which he played the deceased Privet Webster and he was part of the production team for "Fuddy Meers". Justin would also like to add that in a proven study saying "yo" helps boost your calcium! Sammy Robinson LOVES improv. She also likes Pina Colodas and dancing in the rain. She is in love with drama, and she's working on becoming more involved in high school and community theatre. Megan Sweigert is a returning member of the Improvers' Nation who is also a part of Nevada Union's Comedy Sportz club. She is currently the President of the Thespian Society at Nevada Union and has been involved in theater in the community and at the high school. She's an Aquarius, her favorite food is pesto pasta and she enjoys long walks on the beach. Jesse Triplett has been performing improv since joining his high school improv club 3 years ago. He has found it enjoyable since his first experience at improv, after which he was told to "act like a tree and leave". Misinterpreting this as advice he consistently resembles a large tree whilst improving. Trevor Wade: "On the twenty-third day of the month of September in an early year of a decade not long before our own, the human race suddenly encountered a threat to its very existence" and this threat would find its way into improvisational theatre, where it would gather the tools and developed the skills necessary to fulfill its purpose... This is the Trevor Wade story. Patty Wheatley got into acting when he was about six or seven when he was in a production in his church. A year later he was cast in a lead role in another production in his church. After that his acting career was stagnant. In the fifth grade the dream was rekindled when he stared in three play-letts. His star rolls included the narrator and the ugly step sister. Later in seventh grade he got back into drama with Mrs. Traponi. He played parts in the seventh and eighth grade plays. In high school he took drama classes and became involved in comedy sportz, and has been for a year and a half. The Recruit Mackenzie Cole, aka Mack-Easy, is 19 years old and lives in Nevada City. She has always been involved in theatre whenever the opportunity presented itself. She found her love for improvisation in 2002 and the love only continues to grow. She joined the Comedy Sportz troupe at Nevada Union high school in 2005 and is currently the recruit/house manager for Improvers’ Nation. She works at the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office and is currently attending college to obtain a bachelor’s degree. She is a nationally certified Emergency Medical Technician, which she hopes to make a career out of one day. For information call 530-274-8384, ext. 14.
