Listening to the Wild

Listening to the Wild 2008 will be another in Literature Alive’s annual series celebrating nature in poetry, prose, music, dance and video. Featured readers are the rising (and rousing) poet Julie Valin, Sierra Club essayist Jonathan Kiefer, high school students from the local Inkwell program, acclaimed novelists Wylene Dunbar and Elizabeth Appell, and well-known poet/storyteller Doc Dachtler.

Novelist Bill Pieper will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and music by the group Inya Eeeya, video by Saving the Sierra .Org, a film short regarding the Yuba River by The Ridge Kids, interpretive dance by Grace Tea and Grace Fae and an intermission round out the two-hour program.

Refreshments will be available, and books by the presenters will be on sale in the lobby. Don’t miss this wonderful event co-sponsored again this year by the South Yuba River Citizens League.

Inspirations from the Forest
Reception Thursday, April 10, 5:00PM

This is the third annual Inspiration from the Forest and is hosted at the Main Gallery at the Center for the Arts. The show is accompanied by a series of earth day related events. The show purpose is to encourage artists to submit work that expresses their inspirations and feeling about the forests here and around the world.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00PM to 5:00PM.
