Sierra College Dance Club and the Associated Students present
Art Beat 2006
6:00PM, $5
directed by Lovie Bucknell

Featuring Sierra College students and faculty in dance, drama, painting, drawing, music, poetry, photography & sculpture. Sponsored by the Sierra College Dance Club.

This year's show proves to be another exciting and beautiful show with Teresa Wirik-Cull's Jazz/Funk dance students, John Deaderick's drama students, Judy Crowe's poetry students, Robin Clarke and David McKay's photography students, Dick Hotchkiss' ceramics
students, John Michael Keating's drawing and painting students, and much more! Student choreography will be featured by Shannon Haddy, Marissa Hernandez and Will Parkhurst this year.

Three years ago, Sierra College Modern and Jazz Dance instructor, Lovie Bucknell, realized how hard her students had worked to perform in our community's annual dance extravaganza, The Starz Show. These students only have one month from the beginning of the term until this performance so they work extremely hard. Bucknell thought it would be wonderful for them to get another opportunity to perform and show the community their hard work and dedication. Bucknell is also blessed each term with students who are gifted choreographers.

Bucknell has taught her classes off campus for seven years, in seven different wonderful locations. Fortunately the dance studio inside the PE-Health and Fitness building at our Nevada County Campus is in the planning stages at this time. Teaching Sierra College dance classes off-campus has been excellent for community building with our wonderful dance studios, yet Bucknell was feeling like herself and her students were disconnected from the campus as well as the other students and faculty. Moreover, she realized that many other talented students in other arts courses had work that they had been mastering all spring term, some even had work done that they had started back in fall term. Thus spawned ARTBEAT.

ARTBEAT 2006 SCHEDULE:

6-6:50 pm - Audience is invited to vote for "Best in Show" on the still art displayed in the lobby and the Van Gogh room. Refreshments and t-shirts will be sold by the Sierra College Dance Club.

7pm - Act One of performance art (dance, drama, poetry, music)
